Barneys New York Is Coming Back, and Naples Is Where It Starts
The iconic luxury retailer just chose Bayfront Naples for its national relaunch. Here's why that matters. ✨
If you needed one more reason to feel excited about Southwest Florida's luxury trajectory in 2026, here it is.
Barneys New York is relaunching. And Naples is its first location.
A lease has officially been signed for a 10,000-plus square foot space at Bayfront Naples, the iconic mixed-use center where Goodlette-Frank Road meets Fifth Avenue South at the Gordon River. The goal is to open before the end of 2026, making this the first Barneys store since the brand's closure in 2020.
Why Naples. Why Now.
IThis wasn't an accident. The rights to the Barneys name for use in Florida were acquired by two east coast Florida-based businessmen one of whom, Richard Cohen, brings decades of luxury retail experience including senior roles at Saks Fifth Avenue, St. John Knits, and the Ermenegildo Zegna Group. They chose Naples because they recognize what the market represents, a community of discerning, worldly buyers who expect excellence in every dimension of their lives.
Bayfront founder and CEO Kevin Stoneburner confirmed the signed lease and has been actively repositioning the center as a true luxury destination for the past two years, welcoming internationally recognized brands like B&B Italia and Storia Flooring alongside upscale dining. Barneys is the centerpiece of that vision.
As John Marquette of B&B Italia put it simply: "Barneys is the tip of the iceberg for Bayfront."Why This Market Rewards Excellence
Bonita Springs continues to attract buyers who know exactly what they want. They've often seen properties across the country and around the world. They're looking for more than square footage — they're looking for a lifestyle, a community, a place that feels like it was made for them.
Serving that buyer well requires agents who understand the nuance of this market deeply: the distinction between communities, the rhythm of the seasons, the way waterfront living here feels different from anywhere else. It requires patience, local knowledge, and the kind of warmth that can't be scripted.
Our team brings all of that. And the results speak for themselves.
What the Barneys Naples Store Will Offer
The Naples location is expected to feature luxury brands, cosmetics, and jewelry, along with the iconic Freds modern American bistro that made Barneys legendary in New York. Additional Florida locations and possibly national expansion are planned to follow.
The brand's intellectual property is held by Authentic Brands Group, the same powerhouse behind some of the most iconic names in global retail and entertainment, lending serious credibility to the relaunch.
What This Means for Our Market
There is a pattern developing in Naples and Southwest Florida that cannot be ignored. Barneys. Ritz-Carlton Residences. RH Gallery. The Olde Naples Hotel. The $110 million Bonita Bay Club transformation. World-class brands and visionary investors are choosing this market — not just for its beauty, but for its buyers.
The residents of Bonita Springs, Naples, and the surrounding communities have always known what this lifestyle represents. The rest of the world is simply catching up.
As Stoneburner put it best: "These new additions will elevate Bayfront's commercial landscape to align with the luxury demographics of the surrounding area."
This is the market I've had the privilege of representing for over two decades. And 2026 is the most exciting year I've seen.
If you'd like to explore what it means to own a home in a community this extraordinary, I'd love to connect.
